The Wishmaker Program

In Maine, the average cost of one child's wish is currently just over $6,000.00. The goal of the Wishmaker program is to encourage groups of employees to organize and conduct one or more fundraising events to raise $6,000.00 within one year, enough to grant one seriously ill child's wish. Some of our most enthusiastic and successful supporters are employee and student groups that raise funds in this manner.

Benefits of the Wishmaker Program

  • Builds TEAMWORK and camaraderie in participants.
  • Increases PRIDE and LOYALTY within the workplace or school.
  • Participants feel sense of OWNERSHIP of the project and of charitable giving decision making.
  • RECOGNITION for significant contribution without writing a corporate check.
  • Direct CONNECTION to the use of your funds by learning of child whose wish was granted.

Employer Support

  • COMMITMENT to support participants in their efforts.
  • Allowing participants limited VOLUNTEER TIME to organize events.
  • Occasionally, groups require limited SEED MONEY to get their events underway, which is reimbursed from the proceeds of the event.

Donor Recognition

One of the significant benefits of the Wishmaker program is the ability to have a personal connection with the beneficiary of your fundraising, the wish child and his/her family. Possible connections to the wish child include the following:

  • PHOTO of the child while participating in their wish.
  • THANK YOU LETTER and other correspondence from child or parents.
  • Wishmaker participants can throw a PARTY for the wish child and the family to celebrate the granting of the wish. This allows the Wishmaker participants to MEET THE WISH CHILD and the family.

These interactions will vary with each experience, depending on the comfort level of the wish child and their family.
