We returned home from our Make-A-Wish trip to Disney on Saturday and we had such a wonderful time. It really was such a healing experience and we are so fortunate to have been able to go. We stayed at a place called Give Kids the World, and when Sammy saw our personal villa, she thought it was a castle! The resort in and of itself was enough to keep Sammy happy as they had a merry-go-round, a castle to play in, a spa for kids (where they gave Sammy an air brushed mermaid tattoo, nail polish, and make up), a mini golf course, a train, horseback riding, and many activities scheduled throughout the week. Many Disney characters came to visit and even Santa made an appearance! All our meals were included at the resort and we could even order pizza when we wanted to! It made the experience so special for all of us!
Our trip started early Sunday morning when a limo arrived to bring us to the airport where we were greeted by our wish granters, Mike and Diana.
On Monday we headed over to the Magic Kingdom where Sammy's wish came true: she met Princess Ariel. We didn't even have to wait in line and Sammy was absolutely thrilled...until she Ariel started talking to her. Sam is painfully shy and didn't want to talk to Ariel, but she was so thrilled just to see her! When I ask her what her favorite part of her trip was she always says it was when she got to meet Ariel! She was also thrilled to see Cinderella's castle and each lunch with the princesses at Epcot center.
Over the week, we ate dinner and watched fireworks at Magic Kingdom. We went on some rides and walked around. Sammy was amazed by the castle at night, it changes colors and she loved it when it turned pink. At Sea World, we fed the dolphins (without having to wait in line!) and touch them. Sammy liked that, Adrian (Sammy's little brother) was a little freaked out by their big mouths! We saw many other animals including the shark tunnel...both kids were amazed by that. We watched Shamu put on a show and we went on an African Safari at Animal Kingdom! Sammy's favorite part was riding in the truck because it was a fast and bumpy trip...she is my little wild woman!
Our Make-A-Wish wish granters greeted us at the airport when we landed back in Portland and we rode home in another limo! Sammy says all her wishes came true and it was such a bonding experience for us all. We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this trip happen! THANK YOU! You all made our little girl's wish come true!!!
Many Thanks to: Wish Granters Mike and Diana Spofford; Michael's Limo; Give Kids The World; Walt Disney World.
