Jasmine, 15, of Lewiston lives with a life-threatening heart condition called Cardiomyopathy. On television, she had seen other kids her age have a special birthday party, so she wished to have a Sweet-16 party to remember. And did she ever! Thanks, in part, to generous help from local businesses and volunteers, Make-A-Wish came through with a magical night at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn.
Complete with a pink chocolate fountain, photo booth, faux magazine covers featuring Jasmine, a personalized birthday cake, a personalized step-and-repeat banner, hip-hop dance performances, a DJ, food and a surprise visit from Universal Republic recording artist: Spose.
Jasmine's family and friends were invited to the party via a personalized rap song made for Jasmine and sent to all invitees. At the party, the guests dressed in black and white while Jasmine enjoyed three beautiful dresses throughout the evening. She arrived, via limo and red carpet, wearing a Sweet-16 sach to a crowd of "paparazzi" made of friends, family, volunteers, hotel staff and even guests of the hotel! While making her way down the red carpet with her VIP's, her "fans" asked for photos and autographs from the 16-year-old diva.
"We were so excited to be a part of an evening like this," said Sharon, Hilton Catering Manager. "Other Hiltons have been able to get involved in helping Make-A-Wish so when you called to ask if we could help out, we jumped on the opportunity."
Volunteers buzzed around the ballroom making sure Jasmine had everything she needed to have a good time. Then, when guests thought the party was about to come to a close, a special guest rolled in, singing his Billboard Top 40 hit song "Awesome". The crowd and Jasmine were cheering and dancing as Spose sang his own version of Happy Sweet-16th Birthday to Jasmine. At some points, he even went as far to customize lyrics in his song to include Jasmine.
