Age 16
Fairfield, Maine
"I wish to snorkle the Great Barrier Reef in Australia." |
 |
Sixteen-year-old Corina, of Fairfield, wanted to snorkel for
the first time, and had heard that the Great Barrier Reef in Australia was the
place to go.
Corina, who is losing her eyesight due to a brain tumor, wanted to see
the Reef while she still had her vision. While in the Land of Oz, she
also hoped to get a glimpse of a koala bear and a kangaroo.
"The whole week was unreal," Corina said. "The Great Barrier Reef was
amazing - the fish came right up to me and the coral was huge. I had my
own private marine biologist who said, 'I want you to have the time of
your life'...and I did."
"I got to hold a cuddly baby koala and saw baby roos in their mother's
pouches. The whole trip was perfect - right down to the weather and the
most amazing fresh seafood we had every single night."
Corina and her family are no strangers to Make-A-Wish. For four years
they have organized a benefit bike ride in memory of Corina's
brother (see featured supporter). After being on the receiving end of
Make-A-Wish, Corina and her family are more determined than ever to help other Maine
children experience the magical power of a wish.
