We grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical
conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
How a Wish Happens
Each child's wish begins with the same question... If you could go anywhere,
meet anyone, be anything, or have anything you most wanted... what would you
wish for?
Each child's wish - no matter if it's one that has been requested before
(such as to visit Disney theme parks) or an uncommon wish (such as to visit
a John Deere factory) - is made unique and magical. From the moment a child
is referred, Make-A-Wish volunteers, staff, and supporters put heads, hearts,
hands, and resources together to make that child's special wish a real dream
come true! Hear a wish mom's perspective on what makes a wish so special.
Maine's Wish Kids
Since our chapter's founding in 1992, we have granted nearly 900
wishes (and counting!) to children throughout the state. We are currently granting
a wish on an average of once every five days.
A wish is a child's answer to the question, "If you could have
anything in the world, go anywhere, be anything, or meet anyone in the world...what
would you choose? What would you do?"
