Welcome to our website! We invite you to spend some time here
and learn about the many ways that we bring hope, strength, and joy to Maine
children who are battling life-threatening medical conditions, and how you
can help! Check back often, as we are continually adding new items to inform
and inspire you.
Since 1992, we have granted the greatest wish of more than 800 Maine children.
On an average of once every five days, we are fulfilling the wish of a
seriously ill Maine child, and each wish costs an average of just over
$6,000. Thanks to people like you, we have never turned a child away due
to lack of funding. It is our mission to bring magical once-in-a-lifetime
experiences to each child - like ten-year-old Joshua, from Standish. Soon
after Joshua's wish, his mother sent us the following note:
"Joshua's wish was to go to Disney World, but
Make-A-Wish gave our family so much more. They gave Joshua something positive
to focus on in his world full or needles, nurse visits, chemotherapy, doctor
appointments, and medical procedures. Make-A-Wish has played such a large part
in helping our family to keep our spirits up and to stay positive...Make-A-Wish
gave us a mental and emotional escape that took away some of the pressures and
stress of dealing with cancer...I will forever cherish the wide-eyed look of
joy and amazement on our children's faces. Now we are left with a meaningful
memory that will last a lifetime."
