"Friends of Camden Ryan Libby" Auction

Held for the third consecutive year, the "Friends of Camden Ryan Libby" auction in Portland was another huge success. With nearly 500 people turning out for the event on April 9, nearly $37,000 was raised to benefit four charities. The "Friends of Camden Ryan Libby" auction was started in 2003, after Tracy and Scott Libby's son, Camden, passed away at the age of two from cancer. In June, 2002, Camden had his wish come true for the train that passed by his house to stop so that he could take a peek inside and meet the conductor.

Tracy Libby kindly submitted the following synopsis of the auction evening:

The Friends of Camden Ryan Libby (FOCRL) held a fabulously successful fundraiser this year! There was a core team of volunteers and an event night group of additional volunteers that put an enormous amount of love and effort into the success of this event. FOCRL held the auction and dance fundraiser at the Portland Marriott Hotel. There was such a nice mood during the evening of people having fun and also donating to four worthy causes. The beneficiaries this year are Caring Resources for Living, the Center for Grieving Children, Maine Children's Cancer Program and Make-A-Wish of Maine.

We seem to have developed a theme for this event. The DJ that we always have is Mike Tracy of Custom Sounds, the lighting and sound were produced by Moonlighting Productions Services, and the band was Motor Booty affair.

The mission of the Friends of Camden Ryan Libby is to fundraise and donate all net proceeds to organizations whose mission it is to enrich the lives of children who face deep personal challenges and foster the well-being of children and their families whether through medical care, psychosocial care, and/or practical support services.

We are so thankful to everyone who helped to produce this event! Larry Stark was our fabulous auctioneer for the 9 items we auctioned. He was so generous to spend his time doing this and provided a lot of entertainment for the crowd!
