Fifth Annual Walk for Wishes A Great Success!
The Fifth Annual Walk for Wishes on May 26 was a
great success! The following is a list of the total amount of pledges collected
at each walk site. Please note that the numbers are not final, as folks continue
to mail in pledges. So far, more than $78,000 has been raised for our wish
children -- that's the equivalent of at least 15 wishes!
Thanks to everyone who gathered pledges to help
make wishes come true! And thanks to all the walkers who came out with umbrellas
and good spirits to walk -- or slosh -- at each site.
Congratulations, everyone!

Thirteen-year-old Meaghan wasn't able to participate in the walk on the 26th because of a band concert, so she and her family held their own "pre-walk" on May 9 at the Brunswick location. |

The team "KK's Inspiration" in Lewiston raised nearly $8,300 in just two weeks! Wish child Kailee (who will go on a Disney cruise this October) wanted to raise enough to grant another child's wish -- approximately $5,000. Her friends and family far exceeded her hopes! |

The team "Precious Hearts" came out in full force at the Portland location. |

Eight-year-old Michael, of Kennebunk, did a great job of being the Grand Marshall at the walk on Mother's Beach in Kennebunk. Michael will go on his wish trip to Legoland this month. |

Friends and family of wish child Brock Hurley walked in his memory at the Portland location. Brock had his wish to ride his bike across the Golden Gate Bridge come true in 2001. |

Top Youth Fundraiser! Kailee Childs, 13, of Auburn, was the top fundraiser under the age of 18 and won a custom-fitted mountain bike courtesy of Cape Able Bike Shop in Kennebunkport. Kailee raised $1,147. Her team, KK's Inspiration, raised nearly $8,300. |

Red Sox Winner! Eight-year-old Alex Labbe won the Red Sox package -- four box seat tickets with limo service from Portland to Fenway Park. Any individual who raised at least $1,000 for the Walk for Wishes was entered into the drawing. Ten-year-old Peter Stein drew the winning ticket upon returning from his wish trip to Hollywood. |

Four-year-old Emma, of South Portland, demonstrated that a little rain should never dampen one's sense of style. Emma walked with the Precious Hearts team in Portland. |
